If you are not really a fan of winter, but maybe want to give the snowy splendour a chance? Then don’t miss out on these items on the Arosa Bucket List for Winter Novices below!
#1: Skeacher - spontaneous ski and cross-country instructors
Downhill skiing or cross-country skiing: you learned it a long time ago, you are not confident but feel that a lesson with an instructor is not really for you? We have a compromise. The Skeachers are available at the top station of the Plattenhorn chair lift or by the cross-country trail on selected dates and will accompany you on the spur of the moment. You can refresh your skills and then enjoy the day safely and to the full.
#2: On the toboggan and off you go
In Arosa and the Schanfigg valley, we have seven different toboggan runs for our guests. There is plenty of scope to enjoy an exhilarating descent around the curves. MUST DO : if there is fresh snow, stop next to the slope and jump into the deep snow. Whatever your age, enjoy the feeling of freedom and freshness.
Whether with ice-skates, or curling or ice stock curling. The open-air artificial ice rink near the ice centre offers the perfect conditions for a gentle introduction to winter sports. For beginners, there are bear skating aids to make your adventure on the ice easier.
Supporting the legendary Arosa ice hockey club at a home match is a Must Do for winter novices. The atmosphere in the stadium, the motivated players on the ice and the tasty Bratwurst sausages round off the experience. Go Arosa, go Arosa!
If activities such as skiing or ice-skating are too risky, you can get used to the winter climate on the numerous winter hiking routes.
A tip for beginners: Take the Weisshorn resort lift to the middle stations then enjoy the alpine views on the winter hiking routes towards Alpenblick. After refreshment, walk back to Arosa through the village.
Every stay in the Graubünden mountains should include a traditional fondue.. And the best in Arosa: many restaurants offer fondue from the local Arosa dairy. And if you prefer to try the fondue in your holiday apartment, you can also purchase the fondue from the dairy in local food shops.
Tip for a unique winter experience: try the restaurants Casanna, Strassberg or Heimeli in the Fondei and Sapün side valleys for pure hut romance!
#7: Try Aprés ski at least once!
A warm Munggapfupf shot at the Carmenna hut or a Zwetschgenluz at the Tschuggen hut. These are just two of many opportunities to try out aprés ski and raise a glass with friends.
Everything good must come to an end. But it is important that the experience is remembered. Use the photo point at Arosa station to take a unique selfie to remind you to visit Arosa again when you are at home.
