Arosa Lenzerheide Ski Area has won a major award
Just in time for the start of the winter season, the booking platform Omio tested 6,000 ski resorts and named a winner – Arosa Lenzerheide!

Arosa Lenzerheide is the best ski area in the world
The Arosa Lenzerheide ski area has been one of the most popular and diverse ski resorts in the country for many years. Now, the largest area in the canton of Graubünden, at 225 kilometres, has also won an international award. The booking platform Omio has taken a close look at ski resorts worldwide ahead of the start of the 2024/25 winter season. Their conclusion: the best ski resort in the world is Arosa Lenzerheide! The evaluation summary reads: «Arosa Lenzerheide has some of the best ski slopes in the world and is the perfect place for groups of all levels.» The ski schools, resort lifts and the wide range of events were also positively highlighted. In figures, this means that Arosa Lenzerheide achieved a total score of 91.73 points (out of 100), beating Sölden and Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, both in Austria, to second and third place. AL is also represented in the top 10 in the subcategories «most sociable ski area», «most family-friendly ski area» and «best ski area for experienced skiers and beginners». Accordingly, there was no way around Arosa Lenzerheide in the overall ranking.

Award provides added incentive
The award provides added incentive on both sides of the mountain just before the start of the 2024/25 winter season. Depending on the weather, the first turns can be made in the ski area during the course of November as part of the November high. What is certain is that the official start of the winter season is on 30 November. Both Arosa and Lenzerheide will then offer perfectly groomed slopes for every level of ability. With a wide range of offers and numerous highlights, the largest ski area in Grisons offers special snow fun for young and old, professionals and beginners.

This is how the rating was done
Omio has created a comprehensive data index for 6,000 ski areas, taking into account a variety of factors relevant to winter sports destinations. Among other things, the length of the ski slopes (divided into red, blue and black slopes), Google ratings, rates for ski passes (adult, young adult and child rates), the number of skilifts, the availability of ski schools and planned events were evaluated. A proportional scoring system was used to assign a rating to each factor; the best result in each category received 100 points. The scores were scaled accordingly, so that a value of 5 points, for example, was adjusted to 33 out of 100 points with a possible maximum of 15 in a category. This methodology ensures that Ski Areas can be compared directly.
